Biographical Information[edit]

First Baseman Blake Dean played two years of minor league ball, then became a college coach.

While at LSU, Dean was named Baseball America All-American in 2008. He was MVP of the 2008 Southeastern Conference Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team in 2009 and 2010 as well. He played in the College World Series in 2008 and 2009 . He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 2009 amateur draft and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2010 amateur draft. Dean played for the 2010 Ogden Raptors putting up a .302/.376/.444 slash, although he was a year older than the average player in the league. He moved up to the 2011 Great Lakes Loons, slashing only .237/.309/.349. As he was again a year and a half older than the average player in the league, this signaled the end of his playing career.

Dean was a volunteer assistant at his alma mater in 2013 while completing his degree. He was an assistant coach at University of New Orleans in 2014-2015, then replaced the retiring Ron Maestri as head coach in 2016.
