Biographical information

Outfielder Billy Taylor was the California Angels first round draft pick in the 1973 amateur draft, being taken seventh overall. He was taken after David Clyde, John Stearns, Robin Yount, Dave Winfield, Glenn Tufts and Johnnie LeMaster and right ahead of Gary Roenicke. He played three years in the Angels organization, until 1976, but never reached the major leagues. He won one minor league batting title.

In his first season, 1974, Taylor hit .344/.451/.470 in 63 games for the Idaho Falls Angels and .182/.297/.232 in 35 contests for the Quad Cities Angels. He led the Pioneer League in average and OBP and tied Steve Henderson for the most RBI, 44. He joined Marshall Edwards and Joe Zagarino as being named All-Star outfielders. In 1975, he put up a .256/.351/.351 line for Quad Cities, then fell to .167/.336/.244 with Quad Cities in 1976 to end his career.

In total, he hit .261/.374/.357 with seven home runs in 214 games.
