Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Bill Stumpf was with the New York Highlanders / Yankees in 1912 and 1913. Although only 20 when he broke in, he was not one of the ten youngest players in the league, as there were eight 18-year-old players in 1912 and some 19-year-olds. Ray Keating on the Highlanders was 18 but there were six players younger than him in the league.
He is one of two major leaguers with the last name Stumpf, the other being George Stumpf.
Although he was from the East Coast, he spent most of his minor league career on the West Coast, playing in the Pacific Coast League.
