Bill Byckowski

Biographical Information[edit]

Bill Byckowski was an Olympic player and a scout.

Byckowski was a multi-sport star, being drafted by the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League and winning three Intercounty Baseball League batting titles (career average of .389). He played in the 1987 Intercontinental Cup and 1987 Pan American Games. In the latter event, he hit .438 with 12 RBI. He was 5th in the Pan American Games in average, trailing Omar Linares, Efrain Garcia, Orestes Kindelan and Mike Fiore. In the 1988 Baseball World Cup, he was 2 for 24 with four walks and five runs as Canada's main DH. He remained with Canada in the 1988 Olympics. Bill was later a Canada-based scout for the Toronto Blue Jays and Cincinnati Reds, signing Kyle Lotzkar and Alex Webb.
