Biographical Information[edit]

Bert Johnson (also listed as Johnston) was a Negro League outfielder for four years, 1933-35 and 1938, in the NNL.

He started in 1933 with the Baltimore Black Sox, hitting .243 as the team's starting left fielder. Holway credits him with a .429 BA as a starter for the Newark Dodgers in 1934, and with .333 as a utility player for the same team in 1935.

He was not listed on any roster in 1936-37, but saw some action in 1938, his final season, with the Newark Eagles and Birmingham Black Barons.
