Biographical Information

Benji Grigsby was 9-3 in 26 games at San Diego State University in 1992 with 7 saves in 26 games and 107 SO in 79 IP. In June of that year, he was drafted in the first round of the 1992 amateur draft (#20 overall) by the Oakland A's. In his first season he was 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA in 3 starts for the AZL Athletics, with a 1/7 BB/SO ratio in 11 IP. In 1993, Grigsby pitched for the Modesto A's in the California League and went 5-6 with a 4.78 ERA in 10 starts and 29 relief appearances. He had a 42/72 BB/SO ratio in 90 IP. Grigsby split 1994 between Modesto and the AA Huntsville Stars.
