Biographical Information[edit]

Ben Blake was a minor league player and a college coach. He is the brother of former Major Leaguer Casey Blake and the son of minor leaguer Joe Blake.

The Cincinnati Reds took him in the 54th round of the 1988 amateur draft out of high school. In 1992, Blake was drafted after his senior year at Simpson College by the Cleveland Indians in the 32nd round as a pitcher. He pitched one season in the Indians organization, going 3-3 with a 3.92 ERA in 13 games (5 starts) for the Watertown Indians.

In 2004, he returned to his alma mater, Simpson, as a hitting coach. In 2006, he was named assistant head coach and took over the head coaching job in 2007. In 10 seasons, he went 194-222. He resigned after the 2016 season.
