Biographical Information

Bayron Cornelisse has played for the Dutch national team.

Cornelisse was the Dutch 1B in the 2009 World Youth Championship, going 3 for 20 with 5 walks, 3 runs, 2 RBI and 3 errors. He also pitched one game, allowing one unearned run in three innings and taking the loss against South Korea. In the 2010 World Junior Championship, he was 3 for 16 with a double, 5 walks, 8 strikeouts and 3 runs as the main first baseman; he pitched 2 1/3 IP without allowing a run, saving wins over Panama and Italy. He also made his Hoofdklasse debut in 2010, appearing in one game as a pinch-runner.

Bayron hit .476/.500/.619 in the 2011 European Junior Championship to help the Netherlands win the Gold. He also pitched a scoreless inning and got a save. He was third in the event in both average and slugging. In the 2012 Haarlem Baseball Week, the teenager struck out two batters and retired all six players he faced as a reliever for the Netherlands. He excelled for the Pioniers that year, going 3-1 with 8 saves; in 21 innings, he allowed only 9 hits and struck out 23 while walking 12. He gave up only one run all year and it was unearned. He finished second in the 2012 Hoofdklasse in saves, behind Arshwin Asjes.

The MLB European Academy veteran enrolled in Eastern Oklahoma State College for 2012-2013 (though their 2012-2013 roster listed two other Dutch players, but not Cornelisse) and also was put on the Dutch provisional roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic but was one of their final cuts.
