Biographical Information[edit]
Barney Koch played 33 games for the 1944 Brooklyn Dodgers during the second half of the 1944 season.
Koch had been at the University of Oregon in 1942-43, his time there overlapping with that of Howie Fox and Dick Whitman.
Koch had been at Montreal in 1944, but was switched with Eddie Basinski in mid-season.
Bill James noted him as the lightest player in the 1940's, at 140 lbs.
Koch's brother, Ray Koch (listed as Al Koch at baseballreference.com), played for the Joplin Miners in 1936 and was a long-time amatuer double play partner of Joe Gordon.
