How to write an Article using BR Bullpen[edit]
We strongly advise against copy-and-pasting from any site. Feel free to use other sources (citing them appropriately) and rewording material, but we should not violate any copyright laws and we should present "original" material for the most part. - --Mischa 17:04, 31 August 2006 (EDT)

1) Please focus on facts, rather than opinion. Try to maintain a neutral point of view.
2) Enclose any player's name in double-brackets ex. [[Tuffy Rhodes]] - do the same for leagues, 1985 AL or teams, 1987 Pirates or even just the year, 1893. This creates links to the relevant pages.
3) If a player's name is used by more than one major leaguer, you need to differentiate who you're referring to. So don't do [[Bill Swift]], do [[Bill Swift (swiftbi01)|Bill Swift]] for the earlier one or [[Bill Swift (swiftbi02)|Bill Swift]] for the later one. If one player is much more famous than the other, you need to be very clear - ex. George Wright will take you to the 19th century guy, George Wright (wrighge03) will take you to the 1980s outfielder.
4) Check out the category list under special pages. If you add information that places a person in a category, add the appropriate category at the bottom of the page. For instance, if Hostetler had coached after he was done in the minors, add [[Category:Minor League Coach|Hostetler,Dave]] at the bottom of the page.
5) Put information in the space between Click on edit above to add more biographical information and Related sites.
6) To link to a web site, use single brackets - ex. [http://www.japanesebaseball.com Japanesebaseball.com] will yield Japanesebaseball.com.
7) Please use verifiable information and cite your sources.
Here is wikipedia's verifiability standard: Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Verifiability.
A complete article[edit]
1) Amateur career info when available
2) High school attended (in the demographics section)
3) Minor league info
4) Post-baseball experience
5) A picture
6) Sources

Other Info to be included[edit]
Most articles are obviously incomplete presently. Basic information that Could be included in a player's page would be something like:
Basic information and picture
Biography
Notable Achievements
Records
Quotes
Quotes by this person
Quotes about this person
Bibliography
Related Sites
Other Points[edit]
If you want to make pages look good, it's worth learning about fancy Wiki formatting. We don't have a lot about it here, but the Wikipedia help Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Help has a lot of useful material.
Use the "Show preview" button. It lets you see your edits and check your links before committing your posts.
Don't be worried that your writing isn't as good as some of the articles you see here. The really great ones only got that way after contributions from several people. There are some people here who are happy to edit and clean up other people's articles, but they can't edit an article that isn't there. Others will always spellcheck your work over time. Of course though, it never hurts to read it through to make sure it's okay.

Copyright[edit]
Absolutely do not submit material for which someone else holds the copyright. If there is any question as to the provenance of an entry, it will be removed.
Copyright Violations[edit]
If you believe that your copyright has been violated, please contact:
to alert us to the infringement. We will review the material and remove it if needed.
See our Copyright page for more information.
Editing[edit]
Whenever you work on an article, that's recorded on the "Recent changes" page, which you can access from the menu that's on the left of your screen. A lot of us regularly check the Recent changes page, to see what's being worked on, and sometimes that means people will jump onto what's being worked on to add their own two bits. It is in the nature of Wiki-type sites that people may change what other people have written. At first it can be a bit annoying, but after a while one starts to enjoy it. After all, you can change what other people have written, too.

All of us users are able to edit articles here in the bullpen. If everyone adds information and "cleans up", the site will be better for everyone involved. --Just me 19:00, 30 November 2006 (EST)
