Biographical Information[edit]
Ayrton Laird has played for the New Zealand national team.
He was 3 for 10 with a double, two steals and five runs for his hometown Auckland Tuatara in the 2018-2019 Australian Baseball League, with two putouts and two assists as a backup to Nick Tanielu at 2B. He played in the US in junior college in 2019-2020 (.364/.462/.424) and 2020-2021 (.373/.438/.687). [1] He was on New Zealand's roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers but did not get into a game as they went with an infield of 3B Chayton Krauss, SS Jason Matthews, 2B Nikau Pouaka-Grego and 1B Daniel Lamb-Hunt. The other infield backup, Duncan Izaaks, played briefly. [2]
