Biographical Information[edit]
Ayendy Pérez played in the minors and for the Dominican national team.
He was signed by Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scouts Marc Russo and Roman Ocumarez. [1] He hit .261/.390/.325 with 36 walks and 40 runs in 60 games for the 2012 DSL Angels. With the same club the next year, he produced at a .317/.430/.389 clip with 46 runs in 58 games, stealing 41 bases in 51 tries. Only Jorge Mateo had more steals in that year's Dominican Summer League. He led Angels farmhands in swipes, nine ahead of Pedro Toribio.
In 2014, he hit .279/.327/.361 with 35 runs in 48 games, stealing 16 bases in 19 attempts. He tied for sixth in the Arizona League in swipes. He split 2015 between the Orem Owlz (6 for 27, 4 BB, 4 SB, 2B) and Burlington Bees (.314/.387/.385 in 45 G). He stole 23 bases and scored 37 runs in 57 games. He was fifth in the Angels system in steals.
Appearing for the Dominicans in the 2015 Premier 12, he was 1 for 3 with a double, walk, run and a RBI, backing up Aneury Tavárez in right. [2] In his final season, he produced at a .260/.317/.325 clip with 26 steals in 34 tries for the Inland Empire 66ers. Only Quintin Berry stole more bases by an Angels farmhand and he was 9th in the California League.
In 327 games in the minors, he had batted .281/.365/.350 with 120 steals in 157 tries, scoring 317 runs in 327 games. While he had 18 triples, he did not homer in his 1,129 at-bats.
