Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Art Demery is the brother of Larry Demery and the son of Artist Demery. He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th round of the 1969 amateur draft. Unlike his brother, he never made the majors. His career record was 15-20.
Art debuted with the 1969 Winnipeg Goldeyes, going 3-4 with a 5.05 ERA and striking out over a batter per inning. In 1970, Demery was with the San Jose Bees (3-4, 1.78, 114 K, 1 HR, 28 BB and 59 H in 76 IP) and the Elmira Pioneers (0-4, 8.47, 20 BB in 17 IP). Had he qualified, he would have easily led the California League in ERA ahead of Al Dawson.
In 1971, Demery returned to San Jose and was 9-7 with a 4.04 ERA. The next year, he was 0-1 with a 3.21 for the Waterloo Royals in five games to complete his career.
