Biographical Information[edit]
Argelio Córdoba was active in Nicaraguan baseball for decades.
Córdoba was born in Cuba and served in the Cuban Air Force. In 1956, he moved to Nicaragua, where he played as a middle infielder. His defense earned him the nickname "La Bruja". He managed the Nicaraguan national team in the 1972 Amateur World Series (Bronze Medal) and 1973 Amateur World Series (Silver Medal) and coached for them in the 1977 Central American Games, 1986 Central American Games (they won Gold both times) and 1994 Baseball World Cup. From 1978-1983, he worked with baseball in El Salvador. He then returned to manage in Nicaragua. He guided Nicaragua in the 1987 Pan American Games, then took over the reigns in the middle of the 1991 Pan American Games and guided the team to a Bronze Medal in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup.
