1986 Central American Games
The 1986 Central American Games were held in Guatemala City in January 1986. Nicaragua won the title, going 5-1. Other teams included
Guatemala, Bronze Medalist
Honduras and Silver Medalist
Costa Rica. It was Costa Rica's best Medal in baseball in a Central American Games through 2017.
Nicaragua got strong performances from Berney Baltodano (2 W), Elry Britton (a leading .667 average; he led the team with 4 doubles, 3 steals and 8 runs), Juan Garmendez (8 R, 8 RBI), Tomás Guzmán (a leading 3 HR and 8 RBI), Julio Medina (.538, a tourney-high 14 hits and 8 runs) and Javier Vado (2 W).
