  • Bats Right, Throws Right

Alexander Blagoev was 0-1 with a 5.62 ERA for the Bulgarian national team in the 2011 European Championship Qualifier, when they finished second to Croatia. He nearly led Bulgaria to an upset - in the team's first loss to Croatia, the 19-year-old allowed two runs in the first 7 innings as his team led 4-2 against Danijel Levak. With one out in the 8th, though, he faded. Blagoev plunked Ivan Račić and walked Filip Berecka. Ernesto Pereira singled. An error by 2B Hristo Dundalov let in Račić and Berecka. Matija Grofelnik singled in the go-ahead run. Romeil Agladious and Slobodan Gales followed with run-scoring insurance singles, then a balk by a reliever closed the scoring.
