Biographical Information

Alex Hall has been on a MLB roster and on the Australian national team.

Hall hit .196/.281/.196 for the Perth Heat in the 2016-2017 Australian Baseball League, serving as their most-used catcher as a teenager. He was Australia's starting backstop in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, with a 3-hit game against Nicaragua. He hit .258/.361/.387 with seven RBI in eight games, handling 56 chances error-free. He tied for 9th in the Cup in RBI and led the Aussies, two ahead of Rixon Wingrove and Jarryd Dale.

He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Dave Nilsson that winter. In the 2017-2018 ABL, he hit .282/.371/.476 with six homers and 27 RBI in 36 games. He made his US debut with the 2018 AZL Brewers, producing at a .244/.305/.407 clip. In the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 2 for 12. He improved to .317/.393/.545 for Perth in 2018-2019, with 27 runs, 37 RBI and 11 doubles in 40 games. Only Zac Shepherd had more doubles in the ABL that winter, while Hall tied for 10th in homers (6), was 3rd in RBI and tied Darryl George for 8th with 79 total bases.

The Perth native split 2019 between the AZL Brewers Blue (.275/.312/.380, 4 3B in 41 G) and the Rocky Mountain Vibes (7 for 22, 2B, 3 BB). In 2019-2020, he fell to .253/.317/.368 for Perth. After the minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic, he batted .225/.321/.327 for the 2020-2021 Heat. In '21, he was with the Carolina Mudcats (.233/.304/.374 in 44 G) and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (7 for 28, 2 BB, 2 2B, HR). The 2021-2022 ABL was canceled due to COVID-19.

He spent most of 2022 with Carolina (.104/.204/.188 in 15 G) and Wisconsin (.181/.278/.277 in 30 G) but got a chance in The Show. When 2022 Brewers backstop Omar Narváez was sidelined by COVID in early June, the Brewers called up Hall as their AA and AAA affiliates could not have gotten a player to the game on time. Hall got a day in the majors but did not get to play. In the 2022 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he hit .304/.360/.391 as Australia's main catcher.

Hall dazzled for Perth in the 2022-2023 ABL at .360/.440/.626 with 37 RBI in 38 games. He won the batting crown (.008 over Ulrich Bojarski), was .009 OBP behind leader Boss Moanaroa), was second in slugging (.018 behind T.J. Bennett), had the best OPS of a qualifier (5 ahead of Nick Ward), was 9th in runs (31), placed 4th in hits (50), tied for 3rd in doubles (11), tied for 6th in homers (8) and tied Junior Caminero for second in RBI (5 behind Bennett). He won the MVP.
