Biographical Information[edit]
Ahmad Effendy pitched for the Indonesian national team in the 2003 Asian Championship, 2005 Southeast Asian Games (Bronze Medal), 2007 Southeast Asian Games (Bronze Medal) and 2009 Asian Championship. Though his club finished last in 2009, Effendy was named one of the tournament's Best Players. He helped Indonesia to a Silver Medal in the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he started three of Indonesia's five games. He did his best in the opening loss to Pakistan (6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K in 4 1/3 IP before being relieved by Muhammad Akbar), but lasted just 2/3 of an inning against Japan (6 H, 4 BB, 10 R) and 1/3 of an inning against champion South Korea (6 H, 6 R). He then just finished 0-3 with a 28.69 ERA. He did lead Indonesia's staff with six strikeouts, one more than Akbar.
