Biographical Information[edit]

Agnes Allen was a pitcher (primarily) and outfielder in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1949 to 1953.

Beginning her career with the Fort Wayne Daisies, she saw minimal action in 1949. She moved to the Springfield Sallies (a development team that did not play in the AAGPBL proper that year) in 1950; Allen appeared in 15 games and went 9-5 on the mound, while at the dish she hit .172 in 38 at-bats. The following year, with the Battle Creek Belles and the Kalamazoo Lassies, she went a combined 3-10 with a 6.21 ERA in 24 pitching appearances, walking 126 batters in 100 innings of work. She hit .167 in 36 at-bats.

With the Lassies in 1952, she appeared in 12 games and went 1-7 with a 6.00 ERA, hitting .161/.192/.199 in 161 at-bats. She last played for the Lassies in 1953, going 10-9 with a 3.70 ERA in 24 games and hitting .186 in 70 at-bats, not appearing in the playoffs even though Kalamazoo went all the way to the finals.

Overall, Allen went 14-26 with a 4.87 ERA in 60 games pitched (not counting her time in Springfield). At the plate, she hit .164 with no home runs and 19 RBI in 335 at-bats.

After baseball, she worked as a physical therapist for many years.
