Biographical Information[edit]

Corner infielder Aderlin Rodriguez began his professional career in the New York Mets system at 17 years old in 2009.

He toiled in the low minors through 2014, peaking at High A to that point. Despite his slow progress, he showed promising power those first six campaigns, hitting 14 home runs in 69 games in 2010, then 17 dingers in 131 games in 2011 and 24 home runs (with 83 RBI) in 125 games in 2012. He had been named the Mets' 9th-best prospect going into 2011 by Baseball America. He earned a spot in the 2013 Arizona Fall League, but hit just .194/.206/.222 in 72 at-bats. Reaching Double-A for the first time in 2015, the Mets cut ties with him partway through the campaign, with the Seattle Mariners signing him a few days later. He finished the year with 13 total home runs.

A free agent once again, he signed with the Baltimore Orioles and played in their system from 2016 to 2018. His power began to blossom, as he rattled off seasons of 26 home runs and 93 RBI, 22 home runs and 76 RBI and 23 home runs and 92 RBI, respectively. He still hadn't played above Double-A by the end of 2018, however, despite being 26 years old. That would change when the San Diego Padres signed him for 2019 and assigned him to their Triple-A club, the El Paso Chihuahuas. In 75 games, he slashed .321/.363/.634 with 19 home runs, 64 RBI and 26 doubles. He moved to Nippon Professional Baseball for 2020 after the minor league season was cancelled, playing 83 games for the Orix BlueWave and hitting .242/.299/.455 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI in 83 games. He signed with the Detroit Tigers for 2021, hitting .290/.362/.565 with 29 home runs and 94 RBI in 116 games for their Triple-A club, the Toledo Mud Hens. He made the Triple-A East All-Star team in 2021 and was named the league's Most Valuable Player. His performance suggested a promotion to the majors was imminent, but it was not meant to be. The Tigers cut ties with him following the season and he re-signed with the Padres for 2022.

Rodriguez was named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2012, 2017, 2018 and 2019. He was named a Carolina League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star in 2016.
