Biographical Information[edit]
Through 2020, Abe Kruger is one of only two major leaguers with the last name Kruger. The other, Art Kruger, broke into the majors the year before Abe did.
Abe was born in Morris Run, PA, forty miles from Philadelphia, PA. His minor league career apparently consisted of several seasons with the Uniontown Coal Barons of Uniontown, PA, a town south of Pittsburgh, PA. Abe came to the big leagues for two games with the Brooklyn Superbas in 1908, a team which lost 101 games that season. Abe pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 earned runs. At age 23, he was the same age as the team's #1 pitcher, Nap Rucker.
Sporting Life spelled his name Krueger.
