Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Aaron Sabato was drafted by the Minnesota Twins with the 27th overall pick of the 2020 amateur draft, out of the University of North Carolina. He had had an outstanding first season there in 2019, batting .344 with 25 doubles and 18 homers in 64. He was at .292 with 7 homers after 19 games when the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to the 2020 college season.

In his first professional season in 2021, he was with the Fort Myers Miracle of the Low-A Southeast and the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the High-A Central, but results were disappointing in terms of batting average as he finished with a slash line of .202/.373/.410 in 107 games. The power was there with 18 doubles and 19 homers, and he drew 92 walks, but he also struck out 149 times. He had a similar season in 2022, this time with Cedar Rapids and the AA Wichita Wind Surge of the Texas League, as he finished at .215/.336/.438 in 103 games, with 17 doubles, 22 homers, 59 walks and 142 strikeouts. Hitting only .179 in 23 games at Wichita had a very deleterious effect on his numbers.
