1988 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament

The 1988 Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament was held May 19-22 in Wichita, KS. In a controversial decision #1 Wichita State University was declared champion when the championship game with #2 Creighton University was suspended due to rain. The game was scheduled to be resumed on Monday, with a 2nd game to follow if Creighton won, but the NCAA informed the conference that it would only receive 1 bid to the NCAA tournament. Creighton had 1 loss in the tournament, Wichita State had not lost. Mark Standiford of Wichita State was named tournament MVP.
