Biographical Information[edit]

Zion De Brauwer has played in Belgium's First Division and for the Belgian national team.

De Brauwer hit .379/.514/.379 with 13 runs in 8 games for the 2018 Borgerhout Squirrels. [1] In '19, he batted .346/.432/.477 with 27 runs in 30 games, fielding .951. He tied for 8th in runs and was 5th with 71 assists. [2] In the 2019 Federations Cup, he was 6 for 13 with a walk, two doubles, homer, five runs and five RBI in four games, fielding .800; he hit a grand slam against the Leksand Lumberjacks. He was 8th in average (between Simon Plagg and Dominik Loeffler) and 9th in slugging. [3] During the 2019 European Championship U23, he was 0 for 7 with two walks and two runs with three errors in seven chances. [4]

In his age-19 season, he was 4 for 16 with 7 runs, 3 walks, 4 RBI and 6 steals in 7 tries in a season shortened by COVID-19. He tied Leonel Reina for the steal lead. [5] He hit .258/.425/.290 and fielded .864 for the '21 Squirrels. [6] In the '21 U23 European Championship, he was 4 for 15 with two doubles and a RBI, starting at third for Belgium. [7]

Making Belgium's senior national team in the 2021 European Championship, he was moved to the outfield, with Robin Roevens manning the hot corner. He debuted in the opener versus Austria, pinch-hitting for DH Quentin Devreese and singling off Mo Hackl, then scoring on a homer by Benjamin Goffaux. He had a three-hit game against Spain and finished at .385/.556/.385 with five runs in five games, while handling three putouts, his playing time picking up as the tourney went on. He had Belgium's best OBP, .018 ahead of Roevens, and tied Goffaux for third on the team in runs. [8]
