Biographical Information[edit]

Yutaka Ikeda was a manager and umpire in Japan.

Ikeda played third base in college. He was the first manager of Nagoya when the Japanese Professional Baseball League was formed, going 19-23 in 1936. He was the leading umpire in Japan from 1937 to 1948. He died of stomach cancer. In 1962, he was posthumously inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame, joining Tadao Ichioka in the third class of inductees.
