Biographical Information[edit]
The nephew of Joe Carter, outfielder Yusuf Carter was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 38th round of the 2003 amateur draft and the Oakland Athletics in the 34th round of the 2004 amateur draft but did not sign. He was then chosen by the Chicago Cubs in the 12th round of the 2005 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the AZL Cubs, hitting .263 with a homer and 8 RBIs in 11 games. The following season, with the Peoria Chiefs, he hit .210 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs. He began 2007 back with Peoria and hit .258 with 10 homers in 58 games there before being promoted to the Daytona Cubs in June and hitting .190 with 6 home runs in 58 games there. He started 2008 back with Daytona.
