Yusniel Ibáñez has played in the Cuban Serie Nacional.

In his first two seasons, he barely played, going 4 for 22 with a walk. He became a starting outfielder for Cienfuegos in his third season, 2005-2006, hitting .271/.339/.372; he stole 7 bases in 10 tries but fielded only .918. In 2006-2007, Ibáñez improved to .298/.349/.401 but fell to 3-for-10 in steal tries. He led the team with 15 doubles. He fielded .934 but had 11 assists in 86 outfield games, alternating between left and right field. Yusniel batted .328/.394/.487 in 2007-2008 and fielded .929. His 7 triples tied Alexei Bell and David Castillo for fourth in the league. He stole 3 bases in 11 tries, ranking among the league leaders in times caught running.

In 2008-2009, Ibáñez improved yet again, producing at a .356/.413/.534 rate and fielded .977 with 11 assists in 78 games. He led his club with 24 doubles. During 2009-2010, Yusniel fell to .284/.371/.453 and fielded .966; for the second straight season, he did not place among the top 10 in any department. The flyhawk hit .253/.357/.432 in 2010-2011 but fielded .990 with 5 assists to one error. He won the Gold Glove in right field; Reutilio Hurtado and Joanquín Carbonell were the other Gold Glove outfielders that season.
