Biographical Information[edit]
Yurismary Báez was the #3 batter for Cuba in the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, starting the tournament in LF and moving to CF later on. She scored 4 runs in a win against the Netherlands and was easily Cuba's top hitter (.467/.515/.633, 9 R, 8 RBI, 5 2B in 9 G), though she fielded only .750 with 4 errors in the outfield. She tied Bradi Wall and Bronwyn Gell for 9th in the tournament in total bases (19), tied for third in doubles (even with Stephanie Savoie, Jenna Flannigan and Christina Kreppold, behind Tamara Holmes and Malaika Underwood), tied Nicole Luchanski and Tahnee Lovering for 6th in hits (14), was 10th in slugging and was 8th in OBP (between Lovering and Underwood).
She was back with Cuba for the 2015 Pan American Games, getting one of Cuba's two hits (the other went to Jessica Herrera) against host Canada's Vanessa Riopel. She had two of the three hits in a loss to Team USA and Kelsie Whitmore. She again led Cuba's offense, going 6 for 12 with a triple, run and two RBI for the Games while fielding .900 in CF (7 PO, 2 A, 1 E). She had twice as many hits as any other Cuban (Dayanna Batista, Yordanka Rodríguez and Odrisleisis Peguero tied for second) and tied for the team lead in RBI. For the Toronto Games, she tied Luchanski for second in average (behind only Underwood) and tied Underwood for second in slugging (.015 behind Luchanski).
