Biographical Information[edit]

Yuri Furukawa pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Furukawa was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 4th round of the 2013 NPB draft, but he only pitched 13 games combined with the big club in his first four seasons. He was 4-9 with a 4.13 ERA in 2018, but his ERA rose to 6.34 in 8 appearances in 2019 before the Golden Eagles traded him to the Yomiuri Giants for Ren Wada. Furukawa allowed 4 runs in 5 innings for the Giants in the 2019 season, and he also went 2-2 with a 2.04 ERA for the Indios de Mayaguez in the winter. He only pitched 6 2/3 innings combined in the next two seasons, and the Giants released him after the 2021 season and the Nippon Ham Fighters signed him. Furukawa notched 3 holds with a 4.08 ERA in 34 games in 2022, and the Softbank Hawks selected him in the 2022 NPB Active draft. However, he only got 9 appearances in 2023, and he announced his retirement in 2024.

Overall, Furukawa was 6-15 with a 4.97 ERA, struck out 184 and pitched 228 1/3 innings in 9 seasons in NPB.
