Biographical Information[edit]

Yukio Muramatsu made his professional debut with Nagoya in 1939 and went 5-3 with a 1.03 ERA and just 45 hits allowed in 70 innings. In '40, he was fifth in the Japan Professional Baseball League with a 1.52 ERA and went 21-13 in 51 outings totaling 296 1/3 IP. In 1941, Yukio had a 12-10, 0.98 season, allowing 130 hits in 210 2/3 IP. He was third in the league in ERA behind Jiro Noguchi and Kotaro Mori. In February of the next year, Muramatsu was drafted into the military. Two years later, he was killed in combat in Guam. His career pitching line was an impressive 38-26, 1.26 in a career and life shattered by World War II.
