Biographical Information[edit]
Yukiichi Komazaki has played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Komazaki represented Japan in the 1979 Intercontinental Cup. The Seibu Lions signed him in 1980. Komazaki was sent to the class-A San Jose Bees in 1983, and he hit .197/.250/.262 as a backup outfielder. Returning to Japan, he batted .282/.331/.427 with the big club in 1984. The Saitama native played well in the NPB Farm Leaguess, as he led the league in homers with 23 in 1985, and in RBI with 51 in 1986. However, his poor defense limited him into only play 66 games combined with the top team in that two seasons. He even broke the NPB record when he made 3 errors in a inning as an outfielder. The Lions traded him with Kosaku Akimoto and Michio Aoyama to the Taiyo Whales for Yasuhiko Kawano and Koichi Muraoka in 1990. Komazaki still struggled and only had 42 appearances combined in the two seasons with the Whales. He announced his retirement after the 1991 season.
Overall, Komazaki had hit .244/.279/.332 in 6 seasons in NPB.
