Biographical Information[edit]
Yuka Ogata was one of the members of the Japanese women's national team in the 2017 Women's Baseball Asian Cup, when they only used players 18 years or younger. Listed as a catcher, she played DH mostly and did very well. She went 8 for 11 with two doubles, four runs and seven RBI in four games. Had she qualified, she would have led the event in average (Wai-Yee Cheung led at .588) and OBP (Cheung led at .650) been second in slugging (.008 behind Yu-Ying Hsieh). Despite not being among the batting average qualifiers, she still tied Natsuki Hirata for second in the event in hits, tied Cheung and Chia-Hui Yang for second in RBI (two behind Yu-Chuan Tu), tied Tu and Hyung-yung Kim for 3rd in total bases and tied for fourth in doubles to help lead Japan to the title. She was named tourney MVP for her efforts.
