The Taipei Gida signed Tsai when the Taiwan Major League formed in 1997, and he soon became the main clean-up hitter for the Gida, tying Chin-Yi Cheng to lead the local batters in the league with home runs with six. He also won his first Gold Glove award as a first baseman. He hit the first double in TML history. Tsai didn't have many appearances in 2001 and 2002 due to injuries, as he only played 92 games combined.
When the two leagues merged, Tsai was assigned to the First Financial Holdings Agan. He hit .274/.345/.403 with 6 dingers in the first year with the Agan, but only hit .230/.292/.273 in the next year. Tsai transferred to the TSG Hawks and became their first hitting coach in 2023. Tsai coached for the Taiwanese national team in the 2019 Premier 12.
