Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-Cheng Kuo has played in the CPBL.

Kuo was drafted by the expansion Wei Chuan Dragons in the third round of their first draft - the 2019 CPBL Draft. He spent his first season in the minor leagues because the Dragons weren't allowed to play in the major league until 2020, and he soon became their main starter. Kuo set the CPBL minors record for 25 starts in a season, and his ERA was 6.16. He still struggled when the Dragons played in the major league in 2021, as he had a terrible 5.80 ERA in 18 games.

The Tainan native broke out in 2022. He was selected into the 2022 CPBL All-Star Game, and pitched 2 2/3 innings with only a unearned run allowed in Game 2. Kuo ended up 7-9 with a 3.43 ERA in this season. However, Kuo slumped to 3-8 with a 5.10 ERA in 2023, and he was moved from the rotation after Jo-Hsi Hsu recovered from shoulder injury. In the 2023 Taiwan Series, he relieved Kuan-Wei Chen in the 14th inning of Game 1, pitched a shutout inning and got the win thanks to Chi-Hung Liu's walk-off home run.

Kuo's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 93.8 mph, a forkball, a curve, a sinker and a slider. He earned a nickname "Faker" because he looked similar to Korean professional LoL player Lee Sang-hyeok.
