Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-Chen Liu has been an infielder and manager in the CPBL.

Liu represented Taiwan in the 2002 World Junior Championship. The Uni-President Lions signed him in 2009, and he hit .263/.306/.298 as a backup infielder. He was 1-for-8 in the 2009 Taiwan Series, and the Lions beat the Brother Elephants in 7 games. Liu then hit .224/.283/.272 in 2010, and he only got 119 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. He recorded a .254/.324/.331 batting line in 2013, then he slumped to .214/.269/.255 in 2014. Liu mainly stayed in the minor league for the next two seasons, and he announced his retirement in 2016. He was then named the batting coach of the Lions from 2017 to 2022. When Kan-Lin Huang resigned in 2019, Liu was named their interim manager. He was the youngest manager ever in CPBL history, and he led the Lions to a 23-36 record. Liu started to manage the minor league team of the Lions in 2023.

Overall, Liu had hit .234/.289/.291 with 189 hits and 6 homers in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
