Biographical Information[edit]

Yong-joo Kim has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Kim was with South Korea when they won the 2009 Asian Junior Championship. He was picked by the Nexen Heroes in the 4th round of the 2010 KBO draft. He was 0-2 with 6 hits, 5 walks and 9 runs in two innings in the 2010 KBO. He next appeared in 2013, giving up 8 hits, 4 walks and 4 runs (3 earned) in 7 innings. He served in the military after that. In the 2015 Asian Championship, he pitched for the South Korean national team, leading the staff with three games pitched as they won the Gold Medal. He relieved Myeong-sin Kim against both Pakistan (1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 1 K, relieved by Won-jun Ko) and Indonesia (1 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R, relieved by Dong-hyun Choi). He also was their 4th and final pitcher in their win over China, throwing 2/3 of an inning and allowing one hit after relieving Ko.

Returning to Nexen late in 2015 after his military service, he was 1-0 with 3 runs in 8 innings.
