Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Yhoswar García was a top prospect in the 2019-20 international signing period, but was ruled ineligible due to an age issue. He signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on March 14, 2020 for roughly $2.5 million.

Due to already being 18 at the time of his signing, the Phillies were eager to get García into game action quickly, but the cancellation of the minor league season because of the Coronavirus pandemic waylaid these plans. Instead, he made his professional debut with the Tiburones de La Guaira of the Venezuelan Winter League in December. Upon debuting with the club he became the team's youngest position player by over nine months.

The following season, García made his debut in the Phillies system. He came out with a bang, debuting at the Low-A level on June 10, 2021 for the Clearwater Threshers. Facing the Tampa Tarpons, Yhoswar was 1-3, reached on a walk, was hit by a pitch, and stole a staggering four bases in as many attempts.
