Biographical Information[edit]

Yen-Feng Lin pitched in the minor league, the NPB minors and the CPBL.

Lin pitched in the 2001 World Youth Championship. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies in late 2005. He debuted in the minors in 2006, going 3-0 with 2 saves and a 3.92 ERA in 12 games for the GCL Phillies. In 2007, he was 0-2 with 3 saves and a 3.64 ERA in 19 outings with the Williamsport Crosscutters. He was on the preliminary 60-man roster for Taiwan for the 2008 Olympics but did not make the final cut. Lin split 2008 between Williamsport (0-1, 7.15) and the Lakewood BlueClaws (0-2, Sv, 4.65). Lin was released at the end of spring training 2009. He was 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in the 2009 World Port Tournament, giving up 10 hits in five innings. He also pitched for Taiwan in the 2009 Baseball World Cup, going 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA as one of their better hurlers; he beat Tiago Da Silva and Italy but lost to Luis Atilano and Puerto Rico.

For 2010, Lin signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines, becoming the first player from Taiwan to sign with a both a MLB and Nippon Pro Baseball club. He got a 10 million yen signing bonus with an annual salary of 2.4 million yen as well as incentives. He was assigned to Chiba Lotte's ni-gun team but injured his wrist in May and missed the remainder of the season. He pitched briefly in the minors in Japan in 2011 then came to his homeland Taiwan.

The Sinon Bulls selected Lin in the second round of the 2011 CPBL Draft, and he had a 6.44 ERA in 45 games with 14 saves in 2012. Lin was 3rd in saves, 9 behind Brad Thomas and Yueh-Ping Lin. He still attended the 2012 CPBL All-Star Game, and he allowed a homer to Yi-Chuan Lin and got a hold. Lin then represented Taiwan in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, and he pitched 2/3 of a shutout inning as Taiwan won a spot in the 2013 World Baseball Classic. He had a 5.75 ERA in 15 games in 2013, and he pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings in the 2013 Taiwan Series. The Rhinos were swept by the Uni-President Lions. He slumped to 5.06 ERA in 33 games in 2014, and he recorded a 6.35 ERA in 13 games in 2015. The Rhinos released him after this season, and the Lamigo Monkeys picked him up. Lin still recorded a terrible 7.11 ERA in 2017 even in the minors. The Monkeys then released him, and his career ended.

Lin's repertoire included a fastball (peak 94 mph), slider, changeup and sinker.

Overall, Lin was 5-7 with a 5.95 ERA, collected 6 holds and 14 saves in 106 games, struck out 51 and pitched 122 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
