Biographical Information

Yasuhiro Itami was the catcher for Waseda University. Following his college career, he umpired and later managed his alma mater (1940-1942). Later, Itami was the head of the Meiji-Jingu Outer Garden and was instrumental in getting Nippon Professional Baseball in Meiji-Jingu Stadium.

Itami was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978.
