Yann-Alexandre Monnet was on the French national team in the 1997 Intercontinental Cup, backing up Jamel Boutagra at catcher and playing DH. He went 0 for 9. He did better for France in the 2005 European Championship, hitting .389/.400/.444 while playing DH and backing up Florian Peyrichou at 1B. He led France's starters in average (.014 ahead of Kenji Hagiwara) and slugging (.069 ahead of Hagiwara and Boutagra. He was captain of the Rouen Huskies from 1999-2005, winning Division Elite titles in 2003 and 2005.
