Team Information[edit]

The Xenia Athletes in Action are a Summer Collegiate Baseball team which joined the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League in the summer of 2006. The Athletes in Action make their home in Xenia, OH, which derives its name from the Greek word for hospitality and serves as home to the national headquarters of the Athletes in Action network. The Athletes in Action play their home games on the campus of nearby Wilmington College (OH), home of the Quakers.

The Xenia Athletes in Action are a Major League Baseball sanctioned team which is designed and dedicated to provide the nation's collegiate players the opportunity to compete at a higher level and prepare for entering the MLB Draft. The Athletes in Action operate in a similar manner to a Minor League team: playing nightly in stadiums before fans, using wood bats and minor league specification equipment and experiencing road trips between games. Like all summer college league players, they are unpaid in order to maintain their NCAA eligibility, and live with host families in the same manner as Single A and Independent League players.

The Xenia Athletes in Action are affiliated with the Athletes in Action network, a Christian ministry which is dedicated to nurture physical, spiritual and personal devolopment, discipline and growth within their players. Xenia athletes are expected to live to a moral standard while affiliated with the team, and participate in team Bible studies. The Xenia Athletes in Action, like other Athletes in Action teams employ a team chaplain to aide in developing the faiths of the players.
