Biographical Information[edit]
Won-wook Jung pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization for 4 years
Jung represented South Korea in the 1997 Asian Championship and 1998 Baseball World Cup. In the latter event, he struck out 9 in 6 1/3 IP and had a 2.84 ERA for the Silver Medalists. The Lotte Giants took him in the first round of the 1999 KBO draft, and he was 5-4 with a 4.62 ERA in his first season. However, Jung from back injury, and he struggled in 2000 as his ERA was 4.81 in 20 games. He allowed 5 runs in 3 2/3 innings in 2001, then he only pitched 4 games with a 7.20 ERA in 2002. Jung announced his retirement after the 2002 season, and he coached Gaesung High School from 2010 to 2011 and from 2015 to 2021. He was also a scout for the KIA Tigers.
Overall, Jung was 5-4 with a 5.05 ERA, struck out 96 and pitched 112 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in the KBO.
