Biographical Information[edit]

Won-bu Go played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years and Nippon Professional Baseball for 2 years.

Go was signed by the Nankai Hawks in 1980, but he only got 7 at-bats with the big club before the Hawks released him after the 1984 season. He then joined the Binggrae Eagles in 1986, and he hit .245/.333/.332 in his first season in Korea. Go improved to .324/.406/.421 in 1987, and he was 8th in batting (between Kyu-ok Heo and Hyeong-seok Kim) and 2nd in hits (1 behind Jeong-hun Lee). He then recorded a .277/.344/.408 batting line with 9 homers in 1988, and he had his career year in 1989. Go hit .328/.405/.439 with 6 homers, and he won his only KBO Gold Glove as an outfielder. He also won the batting title, and he was 6th in hits (between Ki-woong Kang and Young-jun Han). Go slumped to .254/.342/.406 in 1990, and he only played 39 games with a .229/.312/.277 batting line in 1991. He announced his retirement after hitting .217/.287/.268 in 1992, and he was the batting coach for the Pacific Dolphins from 1994 to 1995.

Overall, Go hit .280/.360/.386 with 526 hits and 37 homers in 7 seasons in the KBO.
