Biographical Information[edit]

Winke Verdick debuted for the Dutch women's national team in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup. Starting in right against tournament champion Japan, she struck out against Miyu Shimizu and Akino Tanaka. She mostly pinch-ran in their other games, finishing the Cup 0-for-3 with a HBP and 3 runs. She had two putouts and one error. [1] Still a teenager by the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, she played regularly in left. Her first hit was off Hee-jin Kim of South Korea; she scored three runs that game. She finished at .158/.385/.158 and handled 10 putouts and one assist with no errors. [2]

In the 2019 European Women's Championship, she played LF, CF and C, hitting .333/.579/.500 with six walks, four runs and four RBI in the four round-robin games, handling 13 chances error-free and stealing three bases in four tries. She did have four passed balls to tie Ivana Málková for the lead but was third in fielding percentage (Anouk Vergunst and Geraldine Gauzelin were also at 1.000, in more chances), 9th in slugging (.004 from 10th in OBP), 7th with 6 total bases, tied for 5th in walks (with Isabelle Markies, Floor Wessels, Esther Maliepaard and Famke Gildemacher), tied Vendula Nesvadbová and Ester Hochmanová for 7th in steals and tied for 5th in putouts (10). In the Gold Medal Game, she opened the game with a single off Camille Foucher and was driven in by Vergunst but the team only scored once more (she was 0 for 3 the rest of the way) and lost to France. [3]

She has also played top-tier softball in the Netherlands.
