Biographical Information[edit]

Isabelle Markies has played for the Dutch women's national team.

She debuted at age 16, in the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup. The middle infielder hit .222/.391/.278 and stole four bases in four tries while handling 19 chances error-free. She tied Sofie van de Wiel for third on the team in swipes. [1] In the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, she was 2 for 16 with 5 walks, 2 steals, a run and a RBI while fielding .735. Her 9 errors were the most in the Cup, three ahead of runner-up and teammate Famke Gildemacher. [2]

Markies batted .333/.579/.417 with six walks and seven runs in the first round of the 2019 European Women's Championship, fielding .889. She was tied for 6th in runs (with Rosie Lyard and Cherise Stravers), tied for 4th in walks and second in assists (10, 2 behind Melissa Mayeux). Hitting 5th and playing short in the title game against French women's national team, she grounded out and walked against Camille Foucher then hit into a double play her last time up. She had one assist and one error as the Netherlands fell, 5-2. [3] She has played in the top softball league in the Netherlands.
