Biographical Information[edit]
William Tuckerman pitched in the Minor Leagues in 1886, 1887, 1888, 1889, and 1891. He played for Brockton in the New England League in 1886, throwing a no-hitter against the Boston Blues on July 16. He appeared for Minneapolis and Eau Claire the Northwestern League in 1887, hitting .292 while posting a record of 17-21, 3.35. He was fourth in the league in losses behind three men who would appear in the majors at some point: Tod Brynan, Shadow Pyle and George Winkelman. He gave up 515 hits, third-most behind Brynan and Winkelman. He went 17-12 with a 1.74 ERA for the St. Paul Apostles of the Western Association in 1888; he finished 6th in ERA, between John Sowders and Harry Staley, and was 10th with 160 strikeouts. He faded to 14-13, 3.49 for St. Paul in 1889. He ended up with the Providence Clamdiggers of the Eastern Association in 1891, going 3-1 with a 2.15 ERA.
