" Brynan, the Philadelphia ambidextrous pitcher, opened for Boston, his trial game. Three straight bases on balls, two or three hits and Pittsburg had six runs in... Brynan looks bigger than when Anson had him three years ago." - Two mentions about Bryan in Sporting Life, May 30, 1891

Tod Brynan made four starts in the majors in 1888 and 1891, finishing with a 2-2 record and 8.31 ERA. His baseball card with Chicago identifies him as "Charles Brynan" and he was also sometimes called Charlie.
