Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher William Atwood was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 12th round of the 2008 amateur draft out of the University of South Carolina. He was signed by scout Bob Hamelin.

He played two seasons in the minor leagues, going 2-1, 2.41 in 12 starts for the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League in 2008 and 8-8, 4.61 in 26 starts for the Potomac Nationals of the Carolina League in 2009. In a combined 189 innings over the two seasons, he allowed 142 hits, walked 40 batters and struck out 118.
