Biographical Information[edit]

Warren White played all five years of the existence of the National Association (although only one game in 1871) and then came back briefly years later. He played most of his games at third base. In addition to his playing, he umpired three games, one in the National Association in 1874 and two in the National League in 1876.

He had served in the Civil War from 1863-1865 and for much of his life was a government clerk in Washington, DC.

The book Baseball in Baltimore indicates that White was the "manager-captain" of the 1874 Lord Baltimores, a sort of semi-pro team.

In 1884 he was secretary of the Union Association and not a player. But the shortstop for the Washington Nationals had left the team, so White filled in.
