Biographical Information

Warren Morris won a bronze medal for the United States at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Morris is best known as the hero of the 1996 College World Series for his Bill Mazeroski-style bottom of the 9th two-out two-run home run to win the Series for Louisiana State University. Morris, who had missed time earlier that year due to wrist problems (which often cripple a hitter's power), hit a first-pitch curveball from Miami closer Robbie Morrison over the right-field fence to turn what would have been a series-ending 8-7 loss into a 9-8 win. It was Morris' first home run of the year.

After the 2005 season the minor league journeyman "felt like it was time" to retire, despite having minor league contract offers from several teams. He reportedly entered banking.

Morris originally entered LSU as a walk-on with an academic scholarship and spent his freshman year as a redshirt behind All-American, and future major league starter, Todd Walker.
